Richmond Web + Media C3 Weekly Roundup: Copeland Casati Media
I love end-of-year. No, really. So as I dash about focusing on the business side of Copeland Casati Media, Richmond's C3 since 1999, here are items of note to consider for your business.
Twitter is adding contributers... this is good for your business, here's why.
Check out Google Goggles.
It will only get more detailed...
Love data? Confused about ClimateGate? Wondering what the heck your footprint is? Microsoft has introduced two new tools designed to help individuals understand the climate debate and manage their carbon footprints. One more reason to love I.T.!
Here's a great update if you speak french. SEO is not dead, just different. Learn why results are changing: http://www.ya-graphic.com/2009/12/le-referencement-naturel-est-mort-vive-le-referencement-naturel/

Richmond Web + Media C3 Weekly Roundup: Copeland Casati Media
Lalala...running fast, actually, flying. Here's what we've got this week.
- This is what you need to know about Google Personalized Search.
- "Google Gets Its First Taste Of Facebook’s Realtime Stream" http://ff.im/-czwKH
- And guess what? Facebook Will Be Google-able (If Your Profile is Set to Public)
Many of you balk, but know that if getting found via the web is important to you... it's something to consider, especially as realtime results pick up weight. - People protest Social Media is for the narcissistic. Let's talk about YOU.
- Even more,
Social Search: Customers Influence Search Results Over Brands - *Sigh*... Stuck at home? (Um not that I ever am. No. Really.) UStream.com allows you to view, participate in events no matter where you're located. Richmond's Social Media Club used it for their focus on social media in film and music! Watching from afar (dag), the user experience seemed much better than the trials and errors I encountered with TwitCam. I will definitely be testing out UStream the next time I... leave and do something, *anything* interesting. (Not that those cams were interesting. One was of a rocking chair. Niiiiiiiice. #NeedsALife...)
This two minute video breaks it down to the big picture:
I understand this is confusing, new territory. But it's always good to question, keep an eye out for new issues on the horizon- you never know when what you think is perpetual will be shaken. See it as liberating, be curious. In business it is good to review data, and look at unconsidered opportunity.
For all the data and facts and passionate strategy... keep yer heart, listen to your intuition... backed up, of course, with good decision-making facts. (Wonder what The Naked Portfolio Manager would say on this?)
Thanks for listening…

Bloody Week! Phishers and Search Engine Fights and Security! Richmond's C3 Takes It On, At Copeland Casati Media.
It's a pain to take the time to research, then track down Google's proper area in each specific instance to report bad sites to Google, but discovering a malware or phishing site and not doing so is worse. So after (again) reporting a phishing site I discovered that mimics twitter making user's profiles show up in Google Web Alerts, so that you *think* you are clicking onto twitter to see that person's profile (at which point they ask you to "log in" therefore getting your password...), I chuckled when I got Google's "thank you for submitting" message:Ayyyyyyyyyymen, BigBruthuhFriend! High five and off I sauntered to continue work.

Thanks for sending a report to Google. Now that you've done your good deed for the day, feel free to:
1. Take a second to rejoice merrily for doing your part in making the web a safer place.
2. Call/email/write to a neighbor/friend/relative and tell them what phishing is and how they can protect themselves.
3. Learn more about malware that can infect your computer on Stopbadware.org.
Some articles of note I considered this week:
- Google Caffeine and the new ranking factors
- F-Secure's 2009 Data and Security Wrap-Up: http://bit.ly/5kaZKX And video: http://bit.ly/6PuqBj
On twitter I saw...
Yahoo! and Facebook Teaming Up http://bit.ly/4YzgZGthen, seconds later:
facebook+yahoo? ok says google, meet google+twitter http://bit.ly/50m05LPow! Zap! Bam! {Ouch!}
[Or, are we the only ones that think this is fascinating, fun, and thought-provoking? Oh wait, I guess that's why you hire people like us to know this.]
Curious about what to keep an eye on in 2010? CNN sums it up nicely here: 10 Web trends to watch in 2010
Oh, by the way:
Who here is surprised that we're going to be featured in a respected National Financial Magazine?
(Oh, c'mon. Raise yer hands. "Weeeeee are....") Keep yer eyes peeled in February, when the next issue of The Wall Street Journal's Smart Money hits the stands.
Thanks for listening…
